Allergic Foods and Food Cravings Did you know that eating allergic foods will give you food cravings?  Your body becomes addicted to the allergic foods, just as an alcoholic’s body becomes addicted to the alcohol.  As you eliminate your allergic foods from your diet, the  toxins start to leave your body which causes withdrawal symptoms.  The body does not want to experience these withdrawal symptoms and makes you crave your allergic foods.  Take heart, after three days the food cravings will diminish or disappear. Over the years I have often heard clients say “I could never stop eating ____” or “I could never give up coffee!”. When they are so emphatic, I know that they are not only addicted to the item, but I also know that it is one of their allergic foods. I must say that I have never heard a client tell me that they couldn’t give up broccoli! I am not saying that all allergic foods produce food cravings, but most food cravings are caused by allergic foods. The craving reaction to the allergic foods can even be a factor in eating disorders.  One of my clients had bulimia and after three weeks of avoiding her allergic foods she reported that her bulimia had decreased by 80%.  Amazing. Withdrawal Symptoms from Avoiding Allergic Foods Some people experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop eating their allergic foods such as flu-like aches and pains, a stiff neck, and headaches.  These symptoms appear because your body is trying to clean out your allergic foods and your liver is overloaded with toxins.  Eliminate Allergic Foods Withdrawal Symptoms When the allergic foods withdrawal symptoms arise, I suggest doing the following: Take 1 tbsp of liquid bentonite mixed in 2 ounces of water (the bentonite absorbs the toxins which are causing the symptoms) Take 1 tsp whole psyllium husks mixed in 8 ounces of water (to move the toxins out of your body) Make sure to take the bentonite and psyllium husks on an empty stomach or they will absorb the nutrients from your foods, your supplements, or your medications. Common Allergic Foods The most common allergic foods which cause withdrawal symptoms when you stop consuming them are: coffee (even decaffeinated coffee) pop / soda artificial sweeteners Neck Ache and Headache Caused By Allergic Foods Many years ago, when my kids were little, we were out for the day and stopped at a corner restaurant for a bite to eat.  As per usual, there was very little on the menu that I could eat.  One of the only items on the menu that was not made with my allergic foods was French Fries. Silly me, I ordered the French Fries.  The oil that they were cooked in must have been rancid because within 30 minutes I had a toxic headache.  Do you know the kind I mean?  I mean the kind of headache that starts with a stiff and aching neck and is especially painful at the base of the skull. By the time we got home I was really suffering so I decided to take bentonite and psyllium husks (as I described above) and within 20 minutes the headache was GONE! Yay!
